Italian photographer captures Iran’s Islamic buildings

The Daily Mail has published stunning images by Italian photographer Massimo Rumi taken in Iran's ancient mosques and bazaars.

Published on January 2, the spectacular images of Islamic buildings show how Persian architects used science and math to create Iran's beautiful ancient mosques and bazaars.

Massimo Rumi spent one month in November 2016 travelling around the magnificent ancient mosques and bazaars of Iran to capture the images.

He had planned to visit Iran in 10 days, but the ease of travel in Iran and friendliness of the locals, made him choose to stay longer.

“Visiting Iran was always in my mind, not only to admire the incredible mix of colors and geometric patterns of many Iranian buildings, but also to learn more about one of the oldest civilizations to ever exist in this world,” Rumi told the Daily Mail.

“The holy grail of Persian architecture are Isfahan and Shiraz, but everywhere you go you find something that will surprise and amaze you,” he added.

Nasir al-Mulk Mosque in Shiraz (also called the Pink Mosque), Jameh Mosque and Ali Qapu Palace in Isfahan, as well as Abyaneh Village are among the places he captured.
